Candy Cane (High Stripe) Jasper rough. This banded Jasper from the Port Alberni area on Vancouver Island was once part of the ocean bottom in what is thought to be the Galapagos Islands area of the Pacific Ocean between 290 to 320 million years ago. The ocean bottom has since been moved through plate tectonics, uplifted and thrust over other rocks and exposed through erosion.

Description

Candy Cane (High Stripe) Jasper rough. This banded Jasper from the Port Alberni area on Vancouver Island was once part of the ocean bottom in what is thought to be the Galapagos Islands area of the Pacific Ocean between 290 to 320 million years ago. The ocean bottom has since been moved through plate tectonics, uplifted and thrust over other rocks and exposed through erosion.
